The project involves the development of
a ‘new mine’ beneath the original
Elandsrand mine at depths of between
3 000m and 3 600m. Originally started by
AngloGold in 1991, the project was
restarted by Harmony in FY01 following
the purchase of Elandsrand in February
2001.
