Manganese is a critical metal in today’s markets. It is a crucial component to steel, used in a variety of alloys and for us most importantly is used in the creation of lithium ion batteries. Lithium ion batteries contain 4% lithium, 61% manganese and 35% oxygen by weight. Manganese however, is not a well known metal, despite being the world’s fourth most traded metal. At American Manganese we understand just how critical manganese is to our modern society, and consistently work towards educating the public about the demand, and application of this necessary commodity. Sometimes we can get a little too excited about our industry and forget that not everyone is aware of the interesting applications for manganese. Therefore, we commissioned Visual Capitalist to help us communicate about manganese in an easy to understand and exciting way. We think the inforgraph below can help explain where the manganese market is going, and the potential for growth in the electrolytic manganese market.
