Lower inflation pushing up real wages in Asia

TOKYO -- Employees across Asia will have more money to spend this year thanks to steadily rising salaries and slowing inflation, according to a survey released Thursday by global consultancy Towers Watson.

The biannual Asia Pacific Salary Budget Planning Report showed that salaries across the Asia-Pacific region will rise an average of 7% in 2015. Though that is about the same rate of increase as in 2014, it represents a "significant jump in real terms" when considering that inflation was lower in 17 of the 19 economies covered in the survey.
