KUWAIT, Sept 25 (KUNA) -- The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) for August 2016 recorded an increase estimated at 2.90% compared to August 2015, the Central Statistical Bureau said on Sunday.
The index figure for the month recorded an increasing at 141.9, by 0.14% as a result of the rise in prices of some major groups of influential figures in the movement and low standard of some groups, it said in its monthly report.
The index for the group of "food and beverages" increased in the month of August 2016 by 0.39%. So the annual inflation rate for this group decreased in August 2016 by 0.19% compared with August 2015, it showed.
The index for the group of "tobacco and narcotics" stood in August 2016 at 152.5, as in the last month without any change. Its annual inflation rate increased in August 2016 by 0.53% compared with August 2015.
The Index for "clothing and footwear" went by in August 2016 by 0.31%. Its annual inflation rate rose in August 2016 by 1.25% compared with August 2015, it added.
Regarding "home furnishings and equipment maintenance", the index hiked in August 2016 by 0.14%. So the annual inflation increased in August 2016 by 3.00% compared with August 2015, the report said.
The Index for "health" stood in August 2016 at 130.8, as in the last month without any change, and the annual inflation rate went up in August 2016 by 1.95% compared with August 2015.
Concerning "transport", the index stood in August 2016 at 122.9, as in the last month without any change, and the annual inflation rate dropped in August 2016 by 1.92% compared with August 2015.
The index of "communication" stood in August 2016 at 101.5, as in the last month without any change, so the annual inflation rate increased in August 2016 by 0.40% compared with August 2015, it added.
"Recreation and Culture" index stood in August 2016 at 128.8, as in the last month without any change. So its annual inflation rate increased in August 2016 by 0.70% compared with August 2015.
The "education" group's index stood in August 2016 at 139.6, as in the last month without any change, and its annual inflation rate went up in August 2016 by 3.48% compared with August 2015, the report indicated.
"Restaurants and hotels" group's index stood in August 2016 at 143.8, as in the last month without any change. So the annual inflation rate rose in August 2016 by 4.05% compared with August 2015.
The index of the group of "miscellaneous goods and services" increased in August 2016 by 0.45%, so its annual inflation went up by 1.77% in August 2016 compared with August 2015. (end)
