Mars and Mercury Decide the Fate of the U.S. Dollar and Gold
The U.S. dollar has been bleeding recently, despite all the Fed’s tightening efforts and the passage of Trump’s tax cuts. An accelerating economy, rising interest rates and pro-growth reforms should logically drive the value of the American currency. But they didn’t. Given the strong negative correlation between the greenback and gold, finding the cause behind the dollar’s wounds is highly critical. The most common explanation among analysts is Trump the Destroyer. It shouldn’t be surprising, as

Alasdair Macleod: 2018 could be the year for gold
The new year is not likely to be good for the U.S. dollar, GoldMoney research director Alasdair Macleod writes today. The United States, Macleod writes, "will compete for dominance on military grounds while the battle for global power is in fact economic. It is a strategy America is bound to lose, because empires always thrive on trade, not suppression. Suppression is an endgame. By opting for trade isolationism and military power, the Americans are risking everything on the dollar's status bein

2018 could be the year for gold
We approach 2018 having seen the seeds planted in recent years for a monetary revolution. They include the massive world-wide expansion of credit and debt since the last credit crisis, and the advent of potentially disruptive cryptocurrencies. Geopolitical shifts of tectonic scale have occurred, hardly noticed by the ordinary person. That was until now. We are now on board a train which is gathering speed towards its buffers: the end of dollar hegemony and its potential collapse. It might take a

Oil for gold – the real story
Following an article in the Nikkei Asia Review, which reported China will shortly introduce an oil futures contract priced in yuan, there has been some confusion about what it means. The article pointed out that in combination with existing gold futures priced in yuan, an oil exporter to China contracting to accept yuan could use these two futures contracts to take delivery of physical gold in payment for oil.I was quoted in that article as follows:"It is a mechanism which is likely to appeal to

“What, Me Worry” Markets - Gary Christenson
Mad Magazine introduced Alfred E. Neuman (What, Me Worry?) in the 1950s. He did NOT become a central banker. That is “fake news.” Global central banks, including the Federal Reserve, created “What, Me Worry?” markets after the 2008 crash. There has been little worry since the November election, until now. Lawless
It’s frustrating to think there’s nothing you can do about it, because it’s all around you and pervasive in our society today. It’s born in human greed and the desire for power, which are the base modus operandi behind all its manifestations, from America’s new found extremes in neo-fascism, to the (Western) police state, to Empire. From the lowest clerk to ‘the powers that be’, all are equally guilty in allowing its spread in tacitly complicit bureaucracy. It’s why the Constitution of The Unite

America is on a slippery slope
It hadn’t happened before, at least not since US presidents started visiting foreign countries after the Second World War.In early September, when President Obama landed at Hangzhoi for the G-20 summit in early September, the CIA security men were told in no uncertain terms by the Chinese that they were not in charge of landing arrangements, and that the President would disembark by the rear exit. It had the hallmarks of a calculated snub, as did the obligatory photograph of the world’s leaders,

China’s Security of Supply
Consider: There is a slowing of production and dwindling of reserves at many of the world’s largest mines. All the oz’s or pounds are never recovered from a mine - they simply becomes too expensive to recover. The pace of new elephant-sized discoveries has decreased in the mining industry. Discoveries are smaller and in less accessible regions. Mineralogy & metallurgy is more complicated making extraction of metals from the mined ore increasingly more complex and expensive. Mining
