A project known as Pacific Northwest LNG seems about to be confirmed by its partners. Barring negative decisions by either the BC Legislature – which was having a boisterous debate on the topic as this publication went to press – or by environmental officials in Ottawa, the project is in the bag.It could make its first deliveries late in 2018.

Speed Bumps
This article appears in the September issue of Oilweek Caribou are a symbol of Canada’s northern forests, but their populations are under threat for a number of reasons. Other kinds of ungulate – white-tailed deer, for example – are migrating into their habitat, for example. This attracts wolves which, by increasing in population and range, have become a greater threat to these iconic mammals. Human activity, of course, has played important roles in these developments. But Canada’s eagerness to build using other people’s money might seem like a good idea, but what are the risks to Canada a

To bring wells on production, companies operating in that early reservoir lowered “torpedoes” or tubes of nitro-glycerine down wells. When they hit bottom, an explosive in the nose of the device set off the nitro. This fractured the reservoir and spurred oil production. Using th
