Mineral Specimen Collecting: Silver and Gold |
For the last 20 years, the author has been visiting mines, mineral fairs,
and mineral dealers to purchase and self collect minerals from over 40 countries
to date.
One of his guiding inspirations was Peter Bancroft's excellent book Gem
and Crystal Treasures which describes Bancroft's selection of the 100
localities for the worlds best mineral specimens.
This essay will describe some of the background and history of famous localities,
and the minerals found there.

The 5 Largest Gold Nuggets that Still Exist |
Throughout gold rush and gold mining history, the discovery of a large gold nugget is a phenomenon which always causes excitement throughout a mining community as well as capturing the wider public's imagination. It has probably something to do with so much gold being found at the same time, often with relative ease.
Gold nuggets can be found in alluvial deposits (sediments formed by water movement) or in other placer deposits (formed by other movement), but gold nuggets can also be found in or Tuesday, December 15, 2020 |

What 10-Baggers (and 100-Baggers) Look Like |
Now that it appears clear the bottom is in for gold, it’s time to stop fretting about how low prices will drop and how long the correction will last—and start looking at how high they’ll go and when they’ll get there.
When viewing the gold market from a historical perspective, one thing that’s clear is that the junior mining stocks tend to fluctuate between extreme boom and bust cycles. As a group, they’ll double in price, then crash by 75%... then double or triple or even quadruple again, onlSunday, October 11, 2020 |

Stock Market Volatility Attributed to 'Shenanigans' |
Back in January, I discussed the likelihood that global equity markets were approaching simultaneous tipping points beyond which legions upon legions of GenX-ers and Millennials would be thrown to the wolves by failing to recognize the financial mania engulfing them. I alluded to it being "Time for the Beast to Exhale," and within a few days, my volatility trade (UVXY) exploded to the upside as the "beast," better known as the global stock market ascent, finally exhaled and fell 3,300 Dow JonesFriday, February 23, 2018 |

5 Record Breaking Gemstones Even Billionaires Can’t Buy |
As Elizabeth Taylor once said: “I adore wearing gems, but not because they are mine. You can't possess radiance, you can only admire it.”
It’s a good philosophy, because when it comes to the world’s biggest, rarest and most extraordinary gemstone discoveries, no one—not even billionaire President Donald Trump—could afford the possession.
We’re not talking about the average diamond engagement ring that sets you back $4,000 and was probably grown in a lab. And we’re not talking about the $3,000 ruThursday, February 22, 2018 |

Top Gold Producers Mine Supply To Fall Right When Potential Investment Demand To Surge |
The gold market is setting up for a perfect storm as the top mining producers’ supply is forecasted to decline right when demand is likely to surge. The surge in gold demand will occur as the broader stock markets roll over and begin their inevitable massive correction. Due to the tremendous amount of leverage in the system, the coming market correction will be quite violent at times. If investors believe the correction is over, and high times are here again, then they haven’t learned anythinTuesday, February 20, 2018 |

Gold giant Barrick faces grilling after fall to the bottom of the pack |
Barrick Gold Corp. executives will have some explaining to do when the company releases full-year results Wednesday.
Even with rising gold prices and a strengthened balance sheet, the world's largest gold producer left shareholders with the worst returns among its top North American peers last year and the third-worst performance in the 15-company BI Global Senior Gold Valuation Peers index.
That's a sharp reversal of the heady gains a year earlier when the Toronto-based company appeared unable Monday, February 12, 2018 |

“Uber-bull predictions of gold at over $5,000 per ounce are not beyond the realms of possibility…”
So says GoldCore founder and self-confessed gold bug, Mark O’Byrne.
Indeed, I recently caught up with Mark to get his thoughts on gold and what’s going on with it right now…
But before we got to the nitty-gritty, I started by asking him a little about his background:
GLENN: How long have you been in the gold business, Mark?

The end of the world as we know it
It’s Christmas 2017 and North Korean Dear Leader Kim Jong-un is facing a crisis. Recently the United States, with UN approval, imposed the harshest round of economic sanctions yet on his reclusive regime.
While North Korea has been sanctioned since 2006 due to continuing attempts to develop nuclear weapons, this new provocation by its sworn nemesis is the last straw for Kim, who feels the great legacies of his father and grandfather, Kim Friday, December 29, 2017 |
