Vietnam's inflation rate has hit 18.6 percent this year, driven by increases in the cost of food, housing, education and transport.

The government's General Statistics Office says Friday that food prices have increased 22.8 percent, housing prices are up 19.7 percent while transport and education costs soared 16 percent and 23 percent respectively.
