An article in UK's The Times, titled: Public isn't worrying about deflation and neither am I, declares Ben Broadbent (gated).

  • BoE deputy governor Ben Broadbent says in an interview that bad deflation isn't a threat to Britain, citing "An analysis of data from 70 countries since 1960 shows that there have been only 70 examples of a fall in annual consumer prices - "barely 2 per cent of the sample". In only twenty-four instances did the price fall last longer than a year and all but four cases were in developing countries with pegged exchange rates. "

More:

  • Rates likely to rise over 2 - 3 years
