Rude Awakening for the US in January No, Just More Alarmist BS From Rickards  (1)
The world & the US $ have been on the brink for 10 years (or more). In 2008 it nearly happened but giving the 1% a stack of money saved the day. It will all be good again until it isn't. If you pay someone money to do something, they generally do it and Mr Rickards is very good at writing doom and gloom. One day, he'll be right.

Can a government surplus cause the economy to tank  (3)
Thank you very much for that Steve. But please just don't 'leave it there'. The author of that article apparently intends to expand on that bullshit to the extent of publishing a book. A timely and detailed dismemberment of these falsities is urgent!

GM Tests Fleet of 46 Robocar Taxis in SF: Driverless Car Timeline Promises by Manufacturer  (4)
Correct, correct, correct. And insurance will indeed be the major driver to widespread adoption. But why do I get aggressive scepticism or blank looks when I try to discuss this with family, friends or acquaintances?

Putting the Latest Silver Crash Under a Lens  (3)
Isn't 23:06 GMT an odd time to sell? If I was selling a big stack of silver I'd be waiting for the most liquid hours when all the big markets were open and I'd be able to unload all or most of it before the price fell? Why sell when most of your buyers are asleep?

The Gold Industry is in a Deep State of Dysfunction, Delusion and Denial - Stewart Dougherty  (3)
Yep, hard to argue with any of that. But this poor, disillusioned, confused, swindled, isolated, powerless, 'smart'(HUH) precious metal owner has no idea what to do...

Second-Order Consequences of Self-Driving Vehicles  (1)
Spot on, Mish; but when I bring this up in conversation everyone thinks it's 20+ years away. Like you, I think the change will be much faster than that with a host of unforeseen consequences. Insurance for human driven transport will become exponentially expensive, driving the technology uptake at an exponential rate. It will be interesting to see what happens to real estate prices (and where!)..

THE US OWES THE WORLD 3x THE GOLD EVER PRODUCED  (5)
A brilliant and succinct summary of the reality. The only question is when - just because something is inevitable doesn't mean it is imminent.

POTUS at SOTUS  (2)
Try explaining that to my patients dying on public waiting lists or getting ripped off by exorbitant private specialist fees!

POTUS at SOTUS  (2)
I'm an Aussie doctor- our system is screwed, (I was going to say rooted but that vernacular has a totally different meaning here in Oz) but not as badly as the US.
The only way you can justify those sort of costs is lawyers, but maybe all those parasites in administration have something to do with it too.
Good luck with reforming health care in the USA (or here for that matter)...

Yet Another Wall Street 'Witch's Brew'
I'm not an American but if I had a vote I probably would have voted for DT as the alternative was much worse. My biggest concern about DTs policies is his attitude to free trade. Logic and history tells us time and time again that free trade increases wealth, the opposite destroys it. Erecting trade barriers and starting trade wars will surely not resurrect American manufacturing and the US, like all the ageing ...

Fantastic article that says it about 'AGW'. I'm looking forward to more of the predictions of these zealots failing to occur.

Ken Rogoff’s Government Debt Default Plan - Peter Diekmeyer  (2)
I thought James Grant's dismissal of this dangerous piece of propaganda was good but yours, Peter, was even better. Please, everyone, who reads and understands what is really happening here, try to make everyone you know aware just how insidious ideas like 'cashless society' really are. Rogoff is too intelligent believe the rubbish he writes. You can be absolutely certain another agenda lies behind it.

Hillary’s Doctor Discloses Pneumonia Diagnosis Made Last Friday: Questions Abound
Hi again Mish-
In my enthusiasm I didn't specifically answer your questions.
1. Yes, the pneumonia is likely a complication of a more chronic condition (symptoms since January).
2. It didn't; the previous symptoms were related to the chronic condition, not the pneumonia.
3. The latter.
4. To put on a show of strength, I suppose.
5. No
6. Possibly; she seems to have an underlying lung ...

Hillary’s Doctor Discloses Pneumonia Diagnosis Made Last Friday: Questions Abound
Hi Mish
I'm a GP (generalist 'family' doctor) in Australia- so I might be more objective than your US medical friends. From the history revealed, it appears HC has a more chronic (greater than 6 months duration) lung condition complicated more recently by infection (pneumonia). A full history is NOT being given here and it would be revealing to see a chest x-ray or better still CT or MRI of the chest to make...

The Gold Standard: Generator Protector Of Jobs  (14)
Sure no one, not Asians, not Westerners, no one wants to do those shitty, boring, repetitive, dangerous jobs - unless what they currently do is worse (like back breaking farm work) or they are in poverty- inadequate food, shelter, medicine for sick or dying children etc. But soon no-one will, robots will oblige us with that. The question will still be; How do we equitably distribute what will still be finite w...

The Pinko Power Elite  (2)
Exactly right. How ironic and sad that a World War still in living memory was fought precisely against fascism. This toxic mixture of big government and big business, both corrupt and with far too much power inevitably leads to militarism and finally war. Hear the war drums? I wish and hope I am wrong but this current adventure will not be over until more millions (and possibly billions) of lives have been lost.

The Culture of Criminality: Wall Street and The Banks
This is possibly the most amazing interview I have ever seen. The fact that the main stream press have not aired this is conclusive evidence to me that our world financial system is rotten to the core. Capitalism has not failed, but it has been corrupted by an unholy alliance of big business and big government. The name for this is fascism. This makes me so sad for our fathers and grandfathers who fought to save...

Greece Today, America Tomorrow  (7)
Why, oh why isn't this man the president of the United States? He seems to be the only politician in the US who believes in their constitution. It's only 70 years since fascism was defeated; now the west is hell bent in adopting exactly that philosophy - warfare and welfare. Adolf must be having a good chuckle down there in the flames.

Man Grabbed, Crushed to Death By Factory Robot: “This is Just the Start… Machines Will Take Over Our Lives”
The spirit of Ned Ludd lives on...won't this free people from boring, repetitive, hard labour to pursue interesting, creative and healthy recreation? Human ingenuity made the machines and will find ways to continue to add value to their and others lives.
