What Is Key for the Price Formation of Gold
Robert Blumen discusses some important but widely misunderstood elements acting on the gold price. He explains that frequently cited gold demand statistics have no relationship to the gold price. In addition, he explains that the annual gold mine production is of very little influence, as gold is hoarded, not consumed like other commodities. Robert Blumen was born in 1964 and gr

The 5 Largest Gold Nuggets that Still Exist
Throughout gold rush and gold mining history, the discovery of a large gold nugget is a phenomenon which always causes excitement throughout a mining community as well as capturing the wider public's imagination. It has probably something to do with so much gold being found at the same time, often with relative ease. Gold nuggets can be found in alluvial deposits (sediments formed by water movement) or in other placer deposits (formed by other movement), but gold nuggets can also be found in or

Common Gold Silver Pitfalls to Avoid
Investing in gold and silver may seem simple and straightforward, however it is not. There are many types of ( quote, unquote ) "investments" in gold and silver you will want to avoid. Gold and silver dealers are no different from any other industry or crowd of people. Within our industry you will find many good honest professionals and organizations, but you will also find some bad outfits whose practices can be described as underhanded, even criminal. Being the Managing Director of

Above-ground Gold Stock - How Much Is There and Why Does it Matter
To understand the price of gold, the relevant supply is the total supply, not the new supply coming to market during the last year, week or month. The supply of gold consists of all of the supply that exists, and the relevant demand is the total demand, not the new demand coming to market during any year. For gold, there is always a large stockpile, and it never gets smaller. The vast majority of all the gold mined throughout human history still exists and is held either in bars, coins, or jewel

The Gold Standard
According to Mises, money’s function as a medium of exchange is thus the central one, while its store of value and unit of account functions are merely subordinate functions. I would say store of value and unit of account is what makes the medium of exchange marketable. The medium of exchange has to be simple to understand, not only by educated people but also the most uneducated. It has to be easily accessed, not only in ideal circumstances but also in difficult ones. Many things have been trie

Which United States President dug for Australian Gold
The glamour, excitement and riches of the Western Australian goldfields in the 1890s attracted a diverse cross-section of people from all over the world. Some came in search of fortunes, others because they had expertise to offer the burgeoning gold mining industry. Herbert Hoover photographed in Perth, Western Australia in 1898.

Golden Secrets (V) Chocolate Mountain Military Base
Here's where it gets a little tricky. The largest gold mine in the world is reported to be the Grasberg Mine in Indonesia with estimated reserves of 1,250 tons of gold (40M oz). According to USGS the total economically mineable gold reserves in the world is only 100,000 tons. And of that the USA only holds about 5,500 tons...or do we?

How to protect one’s pension with Gold
Greed is as old as human race. The last time it overtook husbandry in the realm of gold was over 35 years ago. In 1968 you could still buy gold at $35 per oz. The price had not changed for 35 years, since 1933, in spite of six years of depression; six years of World War II; six years of Marshall give-away; six years of Korean War; six years of escalation of the Vietnam War; the Berlin blockade, the Cuban missile crisis and other Cold War battles. All these historic events have contributed to monetary depreciation in the order of 75 percent. The gold mining industry was badly hurting. Yet it kept producing and selling gold at break-neck speed as if there was no tomorrow. The gold producers of the 1960s, just as those of today, were doped by the paper-money magic. They were coaxed out of their possession of a real asset to exchange it for a phony one. In giving it up at a ridiculous price they were unwitting stooges helping postpone the day when gold could break its shackles. Nobody then or since has bothered pointing out the folly of the inmate who would ingratiate himself to the jail-keepers by assisting them to make his yoke heavier.

Gold Miners’ Q4’17 Fundamentals
The gold miners’ stocks remain deeply out of favor, trading at prices seen when gold was half or even a quarter of current levels.  So many traders assume this small contrarian sector must be really struggling fundamentally.  But nothing could be farther from the truth!  The major gold miners’ recently-released Q4’17 results prove they are thriving.  Their languishing stock prices are the result of irrational herd sentiment. Four times a year publicly-traded co

Top Gold Producers Mine Supply To Fall Right When Potential Investment Demand To Surge
The gold market is setting up for a perfect storm as the top mining producers’ supply is forecasted to decline right when demand is likely to surge.  The surge in gold demand will occur as the broader stock markets roll over and begin their inevitable massive correction.  Due to the tremendous amount of leverage in the system, the coming market correction will be quite violent at times.  If investors believe the correction is over, and high times are here again, then they haven’t learned anythin
