Are We Going to $1,120 or $1,510 No Matter What, Own Some Gold!
Who will win: bulls or bears? The LBMA published its annual forecast survey for precious metals prices in 2018. Gold prices range from $1,120 to $1,510. Where is the price of the yellow metal headed? Summary of the Survey The views of about 30 analysts in the 2018 forecasts are strongly divergent. The average price of gold is projected to be $1,318, so it is expected to be around the current level, but almost 5 percent higher than the last year’s average of $1,257.12. However, the average gold p

Upcoming Turnaround in Gold
More than two weeks ago, we described the very specific and very important pattern in the gold market, one of short- and medium-term importance. We wrote that the triangle apex pattern based on the intraday highs, pointed to a major reversal in the first half of March. The first half of March ends this week, so the key question is if the pattern was invalidated or are we about to see a major reversal in the price of gold. In our view, the latter outcome is highly likely as it is confirmed also b

CENTRAL BANKERS NEVER GET IT RIGHT
Central bank heads have been at it again last week. And they have clearly all been singing from the same hymn sheet. The messages have been very similar from the bosses of the Fed, ECB and BOJ. The head of the Swedish Riksbank had a different and much more interesting message. More about that later. Why should we ever listen to any of these self-important central bankers. They are consistently inaccurate in their forecasts and policies. Their timing is always wrong as they are always behind the

$10 Move in Crude Oil in Just 1 Month Impossible vs. “I’m Possible”
Sounds crazy, right? But from time to time crazy is something that does indeed take place, and these are the times when the prepared are much more profitable than those who were caught with their guard down. There is one analogy that points to the possibility of seeing such a big move in the price of crude oil. What if? Yesterday, the U.S. Energy Information Administration showed that crude oil inventories rose less than analysts had forecast. Was that a bullish news? In our opinion, absolutely

'Red Hot' US Jobs Data See Gold Bullion Lose 1-Week High as 'Trade War' Hits Yen, Beijing
GOLD BULLION slipped against a weakening Dollar in London trade Wednesday, retreating $10 from a 1-week high at $1340 per ounce as talk of a global 'trade war' spurred by US President Donald Trump grew yet again following the resignation of his top economic advisor, Gary Cohn. After new data showed US factory orders falling steeper than expected in January, private-sector payrolls provider ADP today said the world's largest economy added more jo

Silver Hit by Heaviest Bearish Betting in 15 Years, Gold Prices Unmoved by Italy's 'Messy' Election
GOLD PRICES held onto last week's closing level Monday morning in London as the weekend's national elections in Italy – the Eurozone's third largest economy – gave no clear winner overall, writes Steffen Grosshauser at BullionVault. Analysts and traders were further worried by US President Donald Trump's open declaration of a "trade war", with commodity prices slipping and major government bonds rising.

SOCIALISM – A GUARANTEED ROUTE TO HYPERINFLATION
Gold is hated by governments around the world because it reveals their deceitful actions in totally destroying the economy. It is not an accident that gold is the only money which has survived for 6,000 years. Gold is the only money that tells the truth. And gold is nature’s money which means it cannot be destroyed and it cannot be manufactured. This is why governments cannot live with gold as money for more than short periods. Because over time governments always spend more than the country ear

Why U.S. GDP Hasn’t Really Increased Since 2000
While official sources forecast U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to surpass $20 trillion this year, the real figure is probably much less.  So how much less is real U.S. GDP?  Well, that depends on how it is measured.  If we factor in energy consumption and the increase in total public debt, U.S. GDP is likely less than half of the current figure.Yes, it sounds insane to say that the current U.S. GDP is likely overstated by at least 50%, but if we go by fundamental data, it isn’t that crazy at

Did The Office Of Management And Budget Just Throw In The Towel
At some point you really have to begin to wonder if the U.S. government has simply given up on the idea of even pretending to have any sort of fiscal plan. It’s almost as if they’ve stopped trying to even bother to maintain the appearance of solvency, and are just wondering how long it will take before the market notices and ends the charade. A quick review is that the publicly stated debt is now over $20 trillion, with unfunded liabilities like Social Security and Medicare raising the real tota

Gold Bulls, Brace Yourselves – Fed Hikes Are Coming!
Are they? As usual, the FOMC minutes provoked diverse interpretations, both dovish and hawkish. Let’s analyze them, separating the wheat from the chaff. What do the recent minutes really mean for the gold market? Hawks Attack Bullion We have long warned investors about the hawkish treat. For example, as early as in the October edition of the Market Overview, we wrote that the Fed under Powell could be more hawkish than under Yellen. Semi Bearish
Over the last several years, beginning in 2013 I’ve made post titles like ‘Semi Bullish‘ in response to the bullish leading edge economic cycle indicator, the Semiconductor Equipment sector and its implications for broad stocks and the economy. Those implications of economic acceleration were along these lines… Semi Equipment Book-to-Bill (b2b) → Broad Semi → Manufacturing → Employment → Firm Economy. Shortly after the b2b was noted as bullish the SOX index and the S&P 500 broke out to new highs

Top Gold Producers Mine Supply To Fall Right When Potential Investment Demand To Surge
The gold market is setting up for a perfect storm as the top mining producers’ supply is forecasted to decline right when demand is likely to surge.  The surge in gold demand will occur as the broader stock markets roll over and begin their inevitable massive correction.  Due to the tremendous amount of leverage in the system, the coming market correction will be quite violent at times.  If investors believe the correction is over, and high times are here again, then they haven’t learned anythin

GDX Weathers Stock Selloff
The gold miners’ stocks weathered the recent stock-market plunge really well.  As evident in their leading GDX ETF, they were already beaten down before stock markets started falling.  The resulting explosion of fear bled into GDX, forcing it even lower.  Nevertheless, no major technical damage was done.  GDX remained well within its consolidation trend channel and is still within striking distance of a major $25 breakout. Gold stocks’ behavior during stock-mar
