Silver: The Red-Headed, Freckle-Faced Stepchild
In grade school, I had a classmate named Craig McVeigh who was easily one of the most maligned kids in the school because as a big lad standing a full hand width taller than anyone and weighing thirty pounds more than anyone, he was never allowed to play in any sports that involved physical contact. Craig was fair, with bright, curly red hair with freckles adorning most of his exposed skin. Most of all, this lumbering giant of a boy was decidedly unlucky. He couldn't catch a break with a butterf

Gold may be the only winner in US elections
Gold will win US election Gold could rise to at least 8% following election Trump victory will push gold up 10% Uncertainty pre and post election likely to support the gold price Election jitters are one of several drivers for the gold price Trump win will release a ‘wave of risk aversion’ Safe-haven demand maybe set to rise in coming weeks To the relief of some but the worry of many others the US election is now just days away. Nonmonetary Perspectives on the Great Depression 2: Steindl, Schwartz, and Eichengreen
We've been looking at the history of "nonmonetary interpretations of the Great Depression" -- the idea that the onset of the Great Depression was not caused by some kind of monetary factor. This was actually the most common view, until the 1960s, and remains a common view today among academics. October 16, 2016: Nonmonetary Perspectives on the Great Depression Now let's look at Monetary Interpretations of the Great Depression (1995), by Frank Steindl. This comes twenty years after Temin (1976)

Irving Fisher and "Debt Deflation"
Recently, I've been thinking about the credit contraction of the early 1930s. This generally gets far too little attention today, but people have thought about it somewhat in the past. One such person was Irving Fischer, a prominent economist of the time. He called it "debt deflation." Here is a nice summary of his views: "The Debt-Deflation Theory of Great Depressions," by Irving Fischer. Becoming a trusted user of air, land and water
Air, land and water are critical resources and provide us with trillions of dollars in eco system services. If we don't protect these precious resources, the cost will be great; without them, we have no economy, no society, and no eco-systems. But as the world's population grows, these resources are under increasing pressure, and must be used and shared responsibly. "By 2025, two-thirds of the world's population may face water shortages" - WWF So, what does all this mean for our business?

Metamorphosis Revisited
The very changes needed in our money universe, today, would kill dollar demand by devaluing all dollar assets in super higher gold prices. The debts and the dollars would remain; only 90% of their current illusion of value would vanish. Hyperinflation in prices of all wealth objects will be the workout result of this process. As such, opposing dollar political motive will force the US to give the markets what is needed; both gold and gold prices beyond imagination. -FOA (7/27/01) This pa

Finding Zero
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”- Nikola TeslaThe silver market is always one day from panic. The same could be said for the bond market or the dollar. In the age of electronic price discovery and massive reckless monetary Imbalance anything can happen - and it probably will. It will happen whether by virtue of just in time delivery practices of the user or the massive (and very real short) concentration within the large commer

China’s ‘Lehman’ Moment
A raft of stories across newswire in the last 23 hours suggest there might be a rug-pulling-out of sorts coming for investors in the Far East. And as we know, the Butterfly Effect in globalized markets these days is instant and amplified. It could be suggested at this point that the tech sell-off currently underway in U.S. technology stocks is a result of a growing crisis in confidence toward China, and its economic reporting. One might even go so far as to suggest that, in some of the events,

Using Options to Capitalize on Strong Fundamentals in Gold
Throughout most of 2013, gold futures have been under major selling pressure. Gold opened the year trading around $1,675 per ounce.
