BROCKMAN ANNOUNCES TWO KEY APPOINTMENTS
Western Australian iron ore company, Brockman Resources Limited (ASX Code: BRM), has added further depth to its senior management team with the appointment of two new senior positions. Mr Brendan Hynes has been appointed to the newly created position of Project Manager and Mr Tim Fairhead has been appointed as Marketing Manager.
Mr Hynes is a Project Manager with more than 20 years? experience on projects in the mining and minerals industries. Mr Hynes commenced his career with Westralian Sands Limited (subsequently Iluka Resources Limited) and worked on capital projects during a period of strong capital investment through the nineties. Mr Hynes has worked in the mining contracting industry with Roche Mining (JR) and most recently Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR) on Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting?s flagship Hope Downs project. Over his career, he has managed projects from feasibility study, through construction and commissioning and mine closure in the roles of project manager, project engineer, area manager, design manager, and commissioning manager.
Mr Hynes has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from Curtin University, and a Masters of Project Management from the University of Southern Queensland. He is a member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
Mr. Fairhead has over 15 years of China and Australian investment advisory and marketing experience. He commenced his career working for the Australian Embassy in Beijing, before being appointed to head up Fosters? China regional sales divisions. Upon his return to Australia he has worked for a number of boutique investment banking groups, which has included advisory mandates for a consortium of Chinese steel mills, and acted as in-house advisor to a large Perth corporate. He is a fluent mandarin speaker. Mr. Fairhead holds a Bachelor of Business, a Masters of Business Administration, is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and a Chartered Company Secretary.
Two weeks ago Brockman announced an upgraded JORC Code compliant resource for the Marillana Project totalling 1.6 billion tonnes of haematite mineralisation. Based on the previously announced results of beneficiation testwork, the upgraded resource has the potential to increase the Marillana Project?s total estimated shipping inventory (Direct Shipping Ore or DSO plus beneficiated ore) to over 950 million tonnes of marketable product grading 57.4-60.0% Fe. This represents an increase of 40% over the previously announced estimate of 680 million tonnes on 1 July 2008.
