Dr. C. Tucker
Barrie Joins Dr. Allan R. Miller's Strong
Technical Team at Mirdita
Tirex
Resources Ltd.
("Tirex") is pleased to announce that the strong
technical team lead by Dr. Allan R. Miller at the Mirdita Project in
Albania has been enhanced with the addition of renowned VMS expert Dr.
C. Tucker Barrie.
The team comprises an exceptional
group of veteran explorationists who have been involved in many large
and successful projects throughout the world.
Chief Geologist, Dr. Allan R.
Miller, P.Geo., is a Mineral Deposits Specialist and formerly Mineral
Deposits Research Scientist with the Geological Survey of Canada in
charge of regional-scale metallogenic and deposit-scale alteration
studies in northern Canada. Dr. Miller lends his considerable expertise
to mapping and interpreting the geology and mineralization of the
Mirdita District. This work has already produced some new and
innovative interpretations of the VMS deposits of the district, and is
generating new target areas for exploration.
The newest member of the team is Dr.
C. Tucker Barrie. Dr. Barrie is a renowned consulting VMS deposit
specialist and Adjunct Professor at Laurentian University and at the
University of Windsor (Canada). He has written several landmark papers
on VMS deposits and has studied many of the major VMS districts in the
world. He is in high demand internationally for lectures and courses on
VMS deposits. He joins Tirex as a Consulting VMS Expert and will
support the Tirex team with his expertise and experience.
Dr. Perparim Alikaj is an
internationally recognized geophysicist and is Head of the Geophysics
Section, Department of Earth Sciences at Polytechnic University of
Tirana (Albania). Dr. Alikaj is a citizen of both Albania and Canada
and is credited with inventing Real Section IP and Voltage Domain IP
technologies. He has consulted on numerous exploration projects around
the world. The largest ore deposit discovered with Real Section IP
technology is the San Nicolas VMS deposit in Mexico containing 65
million tonnes of copper, zinc, silver and gold mineral reserves. Dr.
Alikaj advises Tirex on both geophysics and coordinates activities with
Albanian authorities.
The Project Manager is John
Nicholson, P.Geo., who has led large and complex exploration projects
from the high Arctic to Mexico and South America. He brings to Mirdita
a wealth of experience in project management and logistics along with a
strong geological background that ensures the exploration is carried
out effectively and to high professional standards.
Joint Project Manager, Brian Game,
P.Geo., is a highly experienced geologist and manages the project when
Mr. Nicholson is off site. Mr. Game's long and varied career includes
project management and exploration projects from Canada to South
America including Flin Flon, Manitoba (Canada), one of the great VMS
districts of the world.
These leading team members are
supported by an enthusiastic collection of Canadian and Albanian
geologists, geophysicists, contractors, field technicians, logistics
personnel and professionals-in training who are working closely with
the lead professionals to rapidly advance the Mirdita Project forward.
George Gorzynski, P.Eng and
Director, states, "We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Barrie to
the Tirex technical team. In these times when senior exploration personnel
are difficult to come by, it is a testament to the Mirdita Project and
the company that these highly talented individuals should choose to
work with Tirex. Their enthusiasm for the Mirdita Project and its
potential runs deep throughout the organization, and their exploration
successes in the six short months since Tirex was first listed for
trading have been an exceptional accomplishment. We look forward to the
exciting times ahead."
Tirex is a company purpose-built to
explore and develop the large 344 square kilometer Mirdita Property in
Albania. The nature of the VMS mineralization in this District provides
Tirex investors with exposure to a high grade basket of metals: Copper,
Zinc, Gold and Silver. The property is readily accessible by paved and gravel
roads and is located 70 km north of the capital city of Tirana. The
property covers the core of the historically productive Mirdita VMS
base metal district. It represents an opportunity to explore Copper,
Zinc, Gold and Silver zones that were previously partially mined,
explored or evaluated at lower metal prices, and provides an
opportunity to apply modern exploration techniques toward the discovery
of new VMS deposits and extensions of known zones. In addition to the
historical deposits identified by previous state-run exploration, Tirex
has identified numerous high priority exploration targets resulting
from the 2007 airborne geophysical survey and ongoing field work. The
Mirdita exploration project is managed by an experienced team of
Canadian geologists and other professionals, and several senior
Albanian geologists, geophysicists and surveyors.
Further details on the company and
the Mirdita Project can be found on the Tirex website at www.TirexResources.com .
