Eldorado Gold Corp. (EGO) announced through its website changes in its board of directors on Dec. 27. Jonathan Rubenstein handed in his resignation in the role of director while Robert Gilmore has ceased serving the board of directors as chairman.
Gilmore will go on serving Eldorado Gold as director. These changes in the board of directors of Eldorado Gold Corp. will be effective Jan.1. Eldorado Gold Corp. has also informed shareholders that Rubenstein and Gilmore will not be replaced since the company wants to keep the board of directors "leaner and more concentrated." The board of directors of Eldorado Gold is now composed of eight members. Out of this total, seven members are independent directors. The Canadian mining company has also announced the appointment of Dr. George Albino as independent chairman of the board. Albino is an economic geologist and has several years of experience in the mining industry. Besides the reduction in the number of its board"s members, Eldorado Gold Corp. has also announced reductions in the directors" compensations that according to George Burns, Eldorado Gold Corp."s president and CEO, "have resulted in a less costly board with new leadership." The new board of directors, added Burns, will ensure "continuity and the efficient and effective provision of oversight and strategic direction to management." Eldorado Gold is trading at $1.42 per share, up 0.71% from the previous close and has lost 56% year to date. Eldorado Gold has a market capitalization of $1.06 billion, a price-book (P/B) ratio of 0.29 versus an industry median of 2.01 and an EV to Ebitda ratio of 11.82 versus an industry median of 10.14.
