Fatality reported at AngloGold Ashanti’s Mponeng mine

JOHANNESBURG (miningweekly.com) – Stoping and development activities have been suspended at the Mponeng mine following a fatality, AngloGold Ashanti said on Thursday.

A miners’ assistant was fatally injured in a fall-of-ground incident at the Carletonville-based mine on Wednesday.

The company notified the Department of Mineral Resources and an in loco inspection was carried out.
