Commander Reports Stump Lake Gold Drill Program Results

VANCOUVER, BC - Commander Resources Ltd. (CMD-TSX.V, "Commander") reports that it has now received all the results from its first phase 2,000 m drill program located at Stump Lake, B.C.

The drill program was designed to test an anomalous 2.5 km strike length of a quartz carbonated brecciated vein system which has been sampled by rock grab sampling and found to consistently contain gold values of up to 6 g/t Au.

The highlights from the drilling program are presented below. Hole SL 12-06 returned the best results with Au mineralization found over 43.15 m, the best intersection being 19.0 metres grading 0.44 g/t Au, which included a 1 m interval grading 4.79 g/t Au. The core was pervasively altered and brecciated. This area was tested down dip but the hole caved and had to be abandoned before drilling through the vein systems had been completed. Five holes discovered gold mineralization along a strike length of 700 m and to depths of 200 m below surface.

The system is thought to be part of a low sulfidation epithermal gold event associated with the Triassic Nicola Volcanics or younger aged Cretaceous granitoid batholiths emplaced to the west of the claims. The mineralization is found in a stockwork of quartz carbonate veins which have pervasively altered the host rock of volcanic andesite. Hole SL12-06 hole targeted beneath an outcrop of brecciated vein exhibiting fluorite, thereby confirming the possible influence of the source rock being composed of granitoid.

Also interesting to note was the increased amount of hematite and potassic alteration in the core around the best mineralized zones which suggests the gold is associated with later thermal events and remobilization of gold. There was no arsenic association with the gold values and only a minimal kick in silver values, which makes pathfinder geochemistry a poor method for discovering this style of deposit. There was very little pyrite and the only way to recognize possible gold mineralization was through sampling the full length of the vein as well as the surrounding volcanic wall rock.

A total of 2,073 m were completed from 10 holes spread over a distance of 2.5 km. The drilling successfully delineated the brecciated veins which kept a constant dip of 30 degrees. The core samples were analyzed by SGS Minerals and were treated by AA fire assay technique as well as partial digest ICP MS method. The industry accepted QA/QC procedures were followed by submitting standards as well as blanks along with the split core samples. SGS also implemented its own quality control procedures.

Commander has invested $650,000 of exploration expenditure into the Stump Lake property through prospecting, mapping, chip sampling, soil sampling, an IP survey, ground magnetic survey and a drill program.
