RETIREMENT OF CHAIRMAN AND APPOINTMENT OF INTERIM CHAIRMAN
Atlas Iron
Limited (ASX Code: AGO) (?Atlas?) today announced that its Chairman, Mr Geoff Clifford, has advised Atlas that he will step down
effective from 31 July 2011 to enable him to spend more time with his family.
Atlas would
like to thank Mr Clifford for his four years of
service to Atlas, initially as an independent non-executive director and
subsequently as Atlas Chairman.
?Geoff has
made a substantial contribution to the growth of Atlas, in particular in taking
on the role of Chairman in 2008 during a testing time for the Company as we
started our first mining operation at Pardoo amidst
the challenges of the global financial crisis,? said Atlas Managing Director,
David Flanagan.
?I would
like to thank Geoff for his leadership and his efforts over the past four
years. We wish Geoff well in his retirement as he winds down his board
commitments.?
Co-incident
with Mr Clifford?s decision
to step down, the Atlas Board has decided to recruit additional directors
including a new Chairman.
The Board
has resolved to appoint Mr David Hannon as interim
Chairman until the Company is in a position to announce the revised board
structure. Thereafter, Mr Hannon will revert to his
current role as an independent non-executive director.
