>If I Were President  - Doug Casey - Casey Research
I don't know what to make of Casey. He's a self-admitted anarchist and yet wishes to be King for a Day -- only long enough, he says, to reduce government. So he'd become a dictator to eliminate dictatorship? I recall something about power corrupting absolutely.

What he doesn't say, that is between the lines, is that he would do his utmost to allow every state in the Union to secede. And after that, do his best to allow every City within each State to secede -- State Government being to better than National Government. Then he would do his best to allow every neighbordhood within each city to secede,City Government being no less oppressive than State Government....and so on and so on.

Then he praises the actions of Pinochet of Chile, with caveat. He says, "...but the fact is that Chile has many advantages today because of Pinochet." The streets are clean and people dress nice. He also reduced the national debt and did some privatization, according to Casey. I might add that Mussollini is still praised for making the trains run on time. When Casey is reminded by the questioner about Pinochet's death squads, he says, "Pinochet was a rare bird. And yes, it seems certain that he had several thousand people killed..." Yes, a rare bird indeedy. But the streets are clean and people dress nice

Casey is also a 'rare bird,' and deserving of the bird.
