Well, that depends on how you look at things. If we are to compare health care across various jurisdictions, we would have to conclude that government is far better at providing a higher level of health care to their citizens for considerably less money than private enterprise . Here is just the beginning of a lengthy list of nations with a public health system covering everyone whose citizens enjoy a longer life expectancy than Americans and that spend some 50% of what Americans do: Japan, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, France, Sweden, Israel, Canada, Norway and the Netherlands. There are many others before you get to the the U.S. in 40th place on the life expectancy list. And no nation spends as much as America. And this is all pre-Obamacare.

Health insurers are big business in America and big corporations do not have human values. They are only concerned with their bottom line. As far as they are concerned, if you get sick, it is best that you die and that you not waste too much time doing so.... The numbers are what the numbers are.

As for the article, interesting to see that Mr. Casey sees many of the same solutions to the sovereign debt crisis facing America as i have posted elsewhere, but has not suggested a third party as the means to bring about the necessary changes. These changes are going to happen regardless. The question for Americans is do they want to be directing these changes or do they want to have the changes happen to them?
