I'll have to comment on my own comment then.

Where I agree 100% with your statement I have some trouble accepting the figure you mention below.

My source (http://www.gold.org/faq/start/25/) states the following:
"How much gold is there in the world?
At the end of 2009, it is estimated that all the gold ever mined amounts to about 165,000 tonnes."

... that is 4,812,500,278 troy ounces = 4.8 'B'illion... ounces

Gold reserves held by countries now total 27,069 metric tonnes, up from 26,356 a year ago, according to the latest findings of the World Gold Council, an industry group that tracks all things... = 789,512,545 troy ounces
