Well summed up with the last few paragraphs.
Totally agree...there is just so much garbage today and so little quality.
GOLD IS QUALITY.

Just on the 600 score for a game of tenpins ( a good laugh by the way) I think it too easy to simply double the value of each pin and leave all else alone.

A few possibilities.
Double the length of the alley
Get rid of the guide arrows and make people bowl with their non- dominant hand.
Put some bias in the bowls.
