>Harry Dent: How to Prosper in the Coming Downturn - The Gold Report -
A very interesting read.
Re: house prices in Australia. Yesterday I looked at a very liveable 1 Bedroom unit, 55 sq mts ,big balcony, parking space easily converted to garage enclosed and get good storage as well, in a block of 15, in the Bondi Beach area. Easily rentable.$580/week
Price $600,000. There is a bid in at $585,000.
I agree with Dent that RE here is pretty pricey. I have also looked at a 1 bedroom unit 80 kms south of here on the beach, near schools ,Uni,hospitals etc $215,000.
It's in a good area. Seems reasonably cheap to me for a first home buyer or investor. Like all investments you just have to be careful.

About Dent and gold. I have said on this site before that it would not surprise me to see gold go to $725 but who knows?
Sinclair thinks it will go to $50,000 which I think is preposterous and he "should be almost embarrassed to say it".
It could go to backwardation with nobody willing to sell at either of those prices or anywhere in between.
Then we will all find out its (gold) true value.
The same is true of a place to live ( provided you have no debt on it)

I also think the SP500 will get to around the 600 mark at which time it will be a good time to have cash.

What does that tell you about the next five years? Harry Dent: I discovered this relationship, which I call the spending wave, in 1988. Peak spending happens at about age 46 in the U.S., Japan and most developed countries. That is when a generation will earn, spend and borrow the ... Read More
