As I understand, hundreds of thousands of feet of pure silver wire were used to make the huge centrifuges at Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This silver was all borrowed from the U.S. Treasury. I believe there was even an article on this site about it a couple years ago. I don't know if it could be searched out or not?
