>A Cool Interval  - James Howard Kunstler -
Careful Mr. Kunstler, you are treading very close to blaming the victim. How would you propose black people respond to white people legislating equality? If they weren't feeling some anxiety that would constitute something to be suspicious about. A better observation would be that we as white people have absolutely no idea what their response should be as our race wasn't toiling to make America great with chains around their ankles. Perhaps black people picked up a few clues as to what possibly awaited them after being emancipated from watching what happened to Native Americans trying to preserve theirs. One may also recall that Malcolm X was assassinated only AFTER he began noting that black people weren't the only people being exploited in the United States and that our racial situation was only one of many factors limiting freedom and progress in our nation. As soon as he began to address the economic aspects of conditions for all citizens his days became numbered.
