I was under the impression that the highest yielding gold mine in Japan was the sewage treatment plant that covers a major industrial sector near Tokyo:

Beginning of the headline :Now here’s an amusing story. Science Magazine published an article discussing just how much gold and silver particles are sloshing down worldwide sewage systems.
