The economic depression looming ahead will be violent, but it could also be very short. All that is required is for the government to get out of the way of the people, and there will be an explosion of economic activity. Look at the bounce we got from a very small step back by the government in the form of the tax reform. Think about the economic boom if a Flat Tax plan were implemented. Enormous resources devoted to tax avoidance could be put into productive money making instead of capital preservation activities. Businesses could easily plan for the future without having to hedge against changes in taxing. Additionally, the government does not produce anything, so if we could reduce government employment by 50%, then we would make available a huge workforce for productive work. Win Win.
