You've gone and mentioned "the collapse" of Human Progress, James. I've often observed several throw-backs to Medieval (even Barbaric) Times ~ such as: invasions for resources and the use of Torture. The Geneva Conventions, governing war, advanced mankind a step. The Patriot Act eliminated those Geneva Convention advancements, and the U.S. Constitution, thereby setting mankind back to The Dark Ages.

On the up side: it wouldn't take much to Make America Great Again. On the down side: it's getting more Medieval around here every day.
