What the USA does best, when the government gets out of the way, is innovate and disrupt. Look at the modern industrial revolution in Amazon, and SpaceX. 3D printing means nearly 0 length supply lines. This level of innovation is occurring in traditional industries as well, you just don't see it yet. Some will fail to adapt and will fall behind, as Boeing seems to be doing. New modes of doing things will emerge, as you have noted. Capital will flow into new growth as long as it is free to do so. Failure, of the old ways, is not just an option, it is necessary.
