>How America Treats Its Own  - Andy Hoffman -
I am of the Vietnam era and have always been absolutely disgusted by the way our government AND general populace treated the returning veterans. I recently lost and old friend that served in the South Pacific theater, was shipped to Nagasaki shortly after it was bombed.....he was plagued by health problems that were obvious results of radiation poisening and only received denial from the government. A few weeks before his death in 2012, the government did admit that his health problems resulted from radiation exposure, but they had lost his records and therefore denied that he had ever been in Nagasaki. I knew this man for at least 30 years and I cannot recall that he ever once uttered a negative comment towards his country. The many problems this country has have been CAUSED by the government, including the condition of the economy. The deficit didn't just jump out of a closet nor was it caused by a bunch of us now old farts wanting to collect the funds we paid into Social Security. I, for one, intend to collect, regardless of what it takes and I can assure you I'm not alone.
