Did the Fed Lie About QE 4  (5)
Assuming this is actually true, it would seem like inflation is LESS likely, since not as much new money, er, currency, would be created, but rather just borrowed. Unfortunately, this is still bankrupting the country and increasing the debt load, which will destroy us, as interest rates move up again, especially considering the short average maturity of federal debt.

This site keeps Kunstler because we love to hate what he writes- well most of us, anyway.

First of all he 's got his history wrong. Pope John XXIII was one of the most beloved, Christ-like Popes ever-- and a 20th Century Pope, by the way., not 15th as our learned scribe scribes.

No, but they did it anyway, didn't they, Mish?

I'd like to see how you would do in a head to head debate with John Williams, or Jim Willie.

Jim C.: the drilling will help, but we have exploited most of the cheap oil already. Major drilling, particularly in new areas, fracking, new exploration methods and horizontal drilling will all give us a bump, but it ain't enough. Solar and wind won't do it either and now all of the Luddites want to stop nukes cold (again). It won't be just Japan that goes "midieval." Where is "cold fusion" when we really nee...

Pawlenty wouldn't be my first choice either, but that "bumbling nonentity" made stuff happen as governor and would be infinitely preferable to the Marxist usurper fool with the phony Social Security and draft cards in the White House now.

The media aren't merely stupid. they are willfully diverting the attention of the sheeple, in response to the direction of theit masters. It is nothing so benevolent a...

Fukushima Crisis Upgraded to Level 7 while Radiation Experts Warn About “Radioactive Bananas”  (2)
Somehow, we survived hundreds of nuclear tests up to 70,000,000 tons TNT equivalent, so I imagine that we'll survive this too, although it's a fine mess. Wouldn't want to be near Ground Zero, though.

Skeleton Dance  (3)
James, James, James. All of these tragedies you've chronicled and it still hasn't penetrated your cranium that the Marxist line you so dearly support is the cause of much of them. Hope you enjoy your "walkable," "sustainable" communities in Luddite poverty, since there will be no fuel, no minerals, no food, no Constitution and little real money.

An Odd Rumination  (4)
James:

I don't think they can put the genie back in the bottle, so you'll have to peddle your Agenda 21 stuff elsewhere. Ozero seems to be doing a good job with it here.

But you'd be proud of our local officials here: there's a hearing in town tonight on mandatory bicycle paths. The county is imposing draconian development rules and hypersubsidized bullet trains will run the lenghth of the sta...

Gold 1,500 The World Is Changing!
Burying silver is a real bad idea, unless you can put it in a completely moisture-proof container, with dessicants to absorb any internal "sweating." Silver's not corrosion-resistant like gold.

Good article. Also, congratulations for getting through at least one piece without attacking the Tea Parties, which are defending what allows you to even write.

Mr Kuntsler:

You do better when you stick to your areas of expertise.

1- You seem to ignore the real possibility that the Muslim Brotherhood will take over and establish a militant Islamic state/

2- Re: "In fact, nothing would make me happier in 2011 than the coming-true of the threatened NFL "lock-out" - except maybe if Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) were nabbed in flagrante delicto at a S...

Good piece. I was with you until the climate change part. The big crop problems are politics, population, pestilence.

Certain countries refuse to acknowledge that we have stayed ahead of Malthusian disaster mainly because of technology and free enterprise. Increasing resistance to use of chemicals and genetically modified plants is slowing down technology improvements (I know you don't want to hear tha...

The New Gold Rush  (2)
Actually, there is a chance now to increase wealth by owning gold, not just "preserve wealth."

Why?
- Gold was artificially manipulated downward for 30+ years, from 1980 to 2001, so it was significantly undervalued vs the dollar.
- So, now it is not only going up because of monetary inflation, but it is playing catch-up. Also gold is acquiring an additional "disaster premium," due to the probabl...

Good, but it also looks as if Bachus will have veto power over anything serious that Ron could do. We'll see how that works out.

Intelligent approach. Reduces risk and provides a more probable upside. But, how do yo get truthful information to even do the analyses? They say that a mine is a hole in the ground with a liar standing over it. Juniors don't even have that.
