Kunstler is a touch dramatic at times, yes. His aim I believe is to shake us out of our slumber. I actually bought and read his 'Made by Hand' book. It's a plausible post apocalyptic view. I would rate it's liklihood of occurrence as low though. But no-one can know how far down the slippery slope the current mess will take us. Best be prepared for several stops along the way. According to the book "Gold Warriors" (Seagrave), Japan stripped all of those ancestral holdings of gold and silver from China during WWII using torture, and mafia type tactics and shipped the metal to Japan, then later the Phillipines.
