A Brief History of Epic Mass Madness  (9)
Good article. The only missing piece is that what Mr Kunstler so ably describes reflects underlying spiritual warfare over the U.S. Once you grasp that, it all makes sense.

I always look forward to MacLeod's articles. They are thoughtful, balanced and his opinions are well-supported. Thank you.

Insurrection Versus Insurrection  (9)
As an outsider, I see America moving toward some form of civil war. This will accelerate once food inflation takes off and people are struggling financially even more than at present.

One of the advantages to home schooling, even if a set curriculum is followed, is reduction in the left wing brainwashing of children.

What I don't see in this article is a differentiation between the price of paper and physical gold, which I believe to be decoupling.

Bank of England Warns of an ‘Abrupt’ Financial Collapse Due To Climate Emergency
A cynical attempt on Carney's part to deflect the blame for the coming financial crisis. The central banks must shoulder the majority of the culpability with their ceaseless money printing, low interest rates etc. Carney is doubtless hoping the current hysteria about the environment will serve to distract people from what they will be facing.

We Are Very Confident In $1,700 Gold Before The Muppets Awaken
You are correct regarding spelling but is it necessary to be pedantic about it? Surely the content of the article is more important?

I agree with every word. Keep telling it as you see it. People are so close to the issues that they need a commentator like you to stand back and describe the big picture.

Americans need to do some navel-gazing about why they supported this sleazy couple and the degree of corruption on all levels that kept them in the highest office in the land.

It also ignores counterparty risk. If physical gold availability is limited, you are unlikely to get any - you will be paid out for your paper gold contracts in depreciating fiat currency .
I don't hold gold as an investment but rather as financial fire extinguisher.

The Domino Effect – Romania joins Gold Repatriation exodus
The Bank of England, through its arbitrary refusal to repatriate Venezuela's remaining gold, has lost the trust of smaller nations. It has bowed to pressure from larger ones, providinging flimsy excuses for this failure.

Ken McGoogan, on How the Scots Invented Canada
One beneficial aspect of the Scottish influence in Canada is the Presbyterian work ethic and frugality. What a pity these are slowly being replaced by a sense of entitlement and willingness to assume ever more debt.

Stephen Hawking In His Final Publication: ‘There is No God’  (1)
You can't possibly "know" that there is no God. I, too, did not feel His presence as a young child and was deeply cynical about Him until well into adulthood. Happily, He does not give up on us.

Stephen Hawking – Doomsday Prophet’s Top Five Predictions  (1)
Stephen Hawking may have been brilliant in his own sphere of science. This does not necessarily equip him to make accurate pronouncements about other areas of life. His pessimistic outlook may have been coloured by his physical condition, marital problems and atheism.

Thirteen Russians ands a Ham Sandwich  (6)
Mr Kunstler has hit the nail on the head, as he so often does. This Russian red herring serves nicely to distract people from the real issues - the perilous state of US finances and corruption involving the Deep State and what ought to be trustworthy forces of law and order. The American MSM have a lot to answer for.

Paying Down Christmas Debt: How Long Will It Take
Why is there such an emphasis on gifts at Christmas in north America? Our family made a decision a few years ago that only children would receive presents. We get together with family and friends for a good, fun Christmas meal. I find the Christmas season, which is a religious holiday for us, so much more relaxed and enjoyable nowadays.

EU Threatens Poland With Article 7, Loss of Voting Rights  (3)
Let me get this straight - Merkel decided unilaterally to allow any number of unscreened Middle East and African migrants in then, when this proved domestically unpopular, tried to foist them off on other EU member nations. Was that decision 'in the spirit of the EU'? Now the EU PTB wish to crack the whip and punish those who have resisted the dictatorial frau. It boggles the mind but we should not be surpris...

Brexit, Gold and Harold Wilson's 'Pound in Your Pocket', 50 Years On  (1)
Good points, however Brexit is not entirely about the value of the pound or the cost of living. Many of those who voted in favour of leaving the UK have mentioned that they are prepared to absorb financial pain in order to preserve their sovereignty.

Kunstler has a talent for summarizing complex situations in a pithy and entertaining way. The Middle East is being reduced to a drawn out proxy war between US and Russia with China waiting in the wings to scoop up the profits.

What kind of person runs for public office  (15)
I liked the use of the self-actualization chart within the context of politicians and their motives. It probably applies to many in Hollywood as well.

There seems to be a dearth of truly ethical thinkers in any leadership positions. The political process does not accommodate them, given that it is such a dirty game. How many have the resources to make their influence felt? How many have the stomach ...

I agree 100% with all the points you made. You have summarized my own anger and the reasons for it. My only consolation is that I believe the elites will answer to a higher judge eventually.

With regard to the U.S., I especially hate how wars are cynically sold to the public under the guise of some noble cause, with America's young being used as meaningless cannon fodder.

I keep wondering whether the US is fermenting a war with North Korea so as to indirectly draw China in and delay implementation of the yuan-for-oil initiative, i.e. to defer death of the petrodollar.

On the brighter side, there is a substantial repository of knowledge re: self-sustainability amongst the elderly who grew up in a more frugal time without all the bells and whistles.
