The Deer Lake Uranium project consists of 798 map-staked claims covering 199.5 km2 of the Carboniferous-aged Deer Lake Basin. The basin is part of the much larger Maritimes Basin which extends from Newfoundland southwest through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

The Deer Lake Basin area was previously explored for uranium in the late 1970's by the Hudson's Bay Oil and Gas Company Limited and others.
