Geology of the LaPointe Discovery Project |
|
The largest diamond, a 1.7 mm, is described as clear and white, and weighs 0.0665 carats. Other diamonds from Thunder Bay include fragments greater than 0.5 mm in one dimension, which suggests that the Lapointe Kimberlite has an encouraging coarse diamond size distribution (refer to Table 1). SGS-Lakefield reported a single micro-diamond which remained on the +212 micron screen from 198.5 kg.
