The Kamarangan area is underlain by a steeply dipping, north-trending calcareous sequence which appears to be up to 2,000 metres wide. Early interpretations from bedding seen in trenches suggested that this was a flat-lying sequence. The apparent flat dips have now been confirmed to have been a result of slumping by near surface weathering.
