Geology of the Burin Project |
|
The project lies within the Avalon tectonostratigraphic zone of the Appalachian Orogen and is underlain by late Neoproterozoic volcanic and sedimentary rocks of peri-Gondwanan affinity that are capped unconformably by a Lower Paleozoic shale dominated cover sequence. Rocks within the Lawn and Little St. Lawrence properties are intruded by the Devonian St. Lawrence Granite.
