In the first quarter of 2001, Brazilian Diamonds Limited acquired a significant land position, presently totalling 7,600 hectares, along the Santo Antonio do Bonito River, an upstream tributary of the Paranaiba River where Brazilian Diamonds also has alluvial concessions. The Santo Antonio do Bonito properties are a high priority for both bedrock and alluvial diamond exploration.

In February 2004 Brazilian Diamonds announced the formation of a joint venture with two of Brazil's foremost mining/development companies investigate the potential for commercial exploitation of the company's large alluvial diamond deposits within the Santo Antonio do Bonito Valley license portfolio.
