The Santo Domingo project area comprises approximately 215km² in the Sierra de Chucuma, a mountain range of modest altitude (some 1,200 metres at the project area), to the east of San Juan. Although the area is remote from habitation, there is a sealed road only 20 kilometres to the east. The regional city of San Juan is approximately one hour's drive away, once on the sealed road.
