The company was awarded the mining concession and rights to develop the SGP by presidential decree on April 2007. The Senegalese governement holds a 10% carried interest in the operating company recently established to mine the deposit.
Location of the Sabodala Project
The Sabodala gold project is located in the far west of Senegal, about 650 km south east of the capital, Dakar. The geology of this area is known as the Birimian belt of west Africa. In many of the surrounding countries, this geological belt hosts large and globally significant gold deposits including a number of large deposits nearby across the border in Mali.
