Six exploration projects have been defined in the area to the north of Potchefstroom town, based mainly on a combination of historical gold data as well as the depth of prospective reefs below surface

Geology of the Potchefstroom Goldfield Project
A number of conglomerate reefs have been identified and their contained resources were estimated in the areas covered by the Wits Gold Prospecting Rights. These primary reefs are the Ventersdorp Contact Reef, Vaal Reef, Cobble Reef, Middelvlei Reef, Carbon Leader Reef and North Leader Reef.
