Location of the Batu Hijau Project
The Batu Hijau Project is an island arc located in the southwest corner of Sumbawa in the Sunda-Banda archipelago of Indonesia. Located on the remote island of Sumbawa in the south central portion of the Indonesian archipelago, Batu Hijau is 950 miles (1,528 kilometers) east of Jakarta.
 
History of the Batu Hijau Project
The Batu Hijau copper-gold porpyry deposit was discovered in 1990 and began commercial production in 2000.
