The Quartz Mountain property is located in the Fremont National Forest, Bly Ranger District of south central Oregon about 48 km (30 miles) west-northwest of the town of Lakeview along Oregon State Highway 140. The property is situated at an elevation of about 1830 meters above sea level (6000 feet) in the Basin and Range province that extends from Nevada into southern Oregon

The property was initially explored for mercury in the 1940s and then later became the focus of attention by several junior and major gold exploration companies that conducted exploration programs in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
