Location of the Cadia Project
Cadia Valley Operations is the largest gold and copper producer in New South Wales and one of Australia's largest gold producers.

History of the Cadia Project
The Cadia Hill ore body was discovered in 1992. This large, low grade ore body lends itself economies of scale through the use of bulk mining and treatment techniques. Construction commenced in October 1996 and the project was completed on time and on budget prior to the start of operations in August 1998.

Geology of the Cadia Project
The mineralisation at Cadia Hill lies within a northwest trending corridor two kilometres wide and six kilometres long and is principally associated with late Ordovician monzonitic which intrudes a sequence of Ordovician volcanics and sediments. The gold-copper mineralisation is hosted by sheeted quartz veins in upper Ordovician basaltic to andesitic volcanics and monzonitic instrusives.
