The mine is owned and operated by Minera Escondida Limitada. We own 57.5% of Minera Escondida. The other 42.5% is owned by affiliates of Rio Tinto (30%), the JECO Corporation (10%), a consortium represented by Mitsubishi Corporation (7%), Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (1%), Nippon Mining and Metals (2%) and the International Finance Corporation (2.5%).

Location of the Escondida sulphide leach Project
The Escondida deposit is located in the North of Chile, in the Atacama Desert, 170 km southeast of the city of Antofagasta, at an altitude of 3,100 meters above sea level
 
History of the Escondida sulphide leach Project
Productive operations began in 1990, and since October 2005 the Company also operates Escondida Norte, which is a second open pit located 5 km from the main pit.
