The principal epithermal veins at the Rio Blanco project, including the Alejandra North Vein, are developed within the Rio Blanco Formation of the Saraguro Group. This Oligocene formation comprises, in order of importance: non-welded andesitic to dacitic lapilli ash-flow tuffs, welded ash-flow tuffs (ignimbrites) and sedimentary rocks
