Centerra Agrees to Extend Deadline for Kumtor Agreements
TORONTO, ONTARIO -- April 28, 2008 - Centerra Gold Inc. (TSX: CG) announced today that at the request of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, Centerra and Cameco Corporation ("Cameco") have agreed to extend from April 30 until June 1, 2008, the deadline for completion of the transactions contemplated by the framework agreements entered into on August 30, 2007 between Centerra and Cameco and the Government. In its request the Government stated that the work of the interdepartmental (Government) working group established to review issues relating to the Kumtor project had taken longer than expected. Between April 23 and 26, 2008, Centerra management met with the working group to discuss the working group's proposals with respect to the terms governing the project. The Prime Minister informed Centerra management that he expects Parliament will convene on May 29, 2008 and will consider agreements governing the project. Centerra and Cameco have
communicated to the Government their expectations that the transactions be completed on the terms of the existing framework agreements. The Company expects to have further discussions with the Government and the working group before agreements are submitted to Parliament for ratification.
