Bloomberg and Dow Jones Newswire Interview UEC CEO, Amir Adnani
Dear Shareholder,
In the past week, both Bloomberg and Dow Jones Newswire interviewed UEC CEO, Amir Adnani for articles about the growing supply/demand imbalance in the uranium sector.
As stated in the Bloomberg interview, Uranium Energy Says Quake Reaction Means World Shortfall:
Uranium Energy Corp. (UEC), a U.S. miner and processor of the nuclear fuel, said global supplies will fall short as exploration investment is curtailed following the Japanese nuclear crisis
Because of Fukushima, because of the response, the knee- jerk reaction, the expansion is not going to happen at an adequate pace to fill the current deficit and meet growing demand, Adnani said in a April 13 phone interview from London
Adnani said he doesnt anticipate a negative impact on Uranium Energy because its Palangana mine in Texas started production in late November. Everything we had to do to start production was completed before Fukushima and what seems now to be a tougher environment, he said.
As stated in the syndicated Dow Jones interview, Uranium Energy: Prices To Rally Despite Japan Crisis:
Spot uranium prices are expected to rally to reach levels seen prior to the nuclear crisis in Japan and could continue to rise to reach new highs as demand for the ore remains intact, the chief executive of Uranium Energy Corp told Dow Jones Newswires in an interview Friday
There are currently 62 nuclear reactors in construction globally, of which only 3% are from G-7 countries
"The fundamental difference between reactors from the G-7 and those from growing economies is that the reactors in growing economies are state-run entities that have very little input from the public," Adnani said. This means that state-run projects are more likely to be pushed through by governments, such as in China, where access to capital is also easier than for private-run projects which are often subject to lobbying from shareholders and therefore can be swayed by negative public opinion, Adnani said
Whilst the situation in Japan is key and events continue to unfold, "nuclear power is likely to continue to be at the forefront of the world's energy mix, as the burning of fossil fuels continues to damage the environment and people become more aware of this," Adnani said.
