Caylloma Mine Unaffected By Earthquake

August 16, 2007 - Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. (TSX-V: FVI) wishes to
confirm that the earthquake that took place in Peru late yesterday
afternoon did not have an impact on our Lima office nor the Caylloma
Mine infrastructure. All of our personnel are safe and continue with
their daily activities.
The Mine, located in the town of Caylloma at 4500 meters above sea
level, was not affected by the earthquake or any of the after shocks.
The operating of our processing plant and the production of ore
concentrates continue as usual.
The epicenter of the 7.7 (Richter scale) earthquake was located near
the city of Ica, 303 kilometers south of Lima along the coastline. Lima
felt the seismic movements in a moderate degree but no major incidents
were registered.
Fortuna Silver Mines Inc. sincerely laments the casualties and
fatalities caused by this uncommon natural phenomenon.
